Afternoon at Archibalds

Aunt Kimmie invited us to spend the afternoon at Archibald's with her and Savanna. Luckily no one fell in the water. I had odds bet on Madison :)

Thanks to Nana "D" (Savana's nana) we were able to go into the petting zoo and ride the horses.

Lights, Camera, Action ...

Jaiden had her annual UDA Recital on Saturday. She is such a little performer. She actually performed 3 numbers in each performance (matinee and evening). I feel bad because she doesn't get my full attention during this time of year because I am always helping behind stage and with my own classes. She is so independent I wonder if she notices. It helps that Nana is always around to pick up mom's slack. THANK heavens for Nana! Jaiden came up to the stage for her 2nd number in the evening performance with a fever. She actually still performed the actions but you could tell in her eyes and face that she didn't feel good. Poor thing went home after her last performance and got some medicine. She still wasn't feeling good the next day but after resting all day and keeping the fever down she finally recovered. Poor girl is a trooper. We are very PROUD of you JAIDEN. WE LOVE YOU!!! Thanks to the "fan club" that came to support her. (Nana is not in the picture because she is down in the dressing room getting ready for the evening performance:)

Also, HAPPY 12th ANNIVERSARY JASON. THANKS Sweets for celebrating our anniversary at a dance recital.

Sorry this video isn't very good due to me taking it from backstage. Jaiden is front row.

I will post more video once I get the DVD.

Welcome Home!

Mom and Dad came home with presents and hugs. Yes Carter's present was an American Girl (BOY) Doll. His name is Peter and will be friends with Patrick (the scary boy doll he already has). Jaiden wanted a dark haired doll with "real" hair. Poor Madison got a doll from Target, but it makes sounds and came with a binky. She loves it. It was fun to come home because The Densely family was visiting. Aunt Kimmy helped out Nana with the kids while we were gone. And the kids love to play with their cousin Savanna. BIG THANKS to Granny, Aunt Mel (Nana's), Aunt Kimmy and Nana for taking such good care of the kids while we were out of town. THANKs!!!

New York ... The "BAKED" Apple

American Girl??? Both dads got "worked over" by their daughters who were on the other side of the country. I don't think the girls knowing their dads cell phone numbers helped the situation. The walk of shame down 5th Avenue. What cute dads!
Last stop - Central Park
Too bad it was at night and we were exhausted.

We had a blast in New York. Wish it wouldn't have been a "heat wave" but everything else was great. We stayed in a Comfort Inn on 35th between 6th and 7th. It was actually in a perfect location and a bonus was it was located in the middle of the "Manhattan Mall" area. Of course we could have done more shopping but we did get to hit Canal street.
We are lucky to have such good friends as neighbors and now travel companions. We laughed, played and just enjoyed each others company in such a fun city.

Yankee "sweat" Stadium - Day 5

Jason was able to fullfill a lifelong dream of attending a Yankees game. We attended two games with great seats behind home plate and luckily in the shade. (THANKS Mackays & John Buck - Royals Catcher) It was really fun but also unbelievably hot. 100 degrees plus humidity - not a good combination.
Jeter at the plate.
Melting in the stands.

(If you enlarge this picture you can actually see the drops of sweat on Guy's head - it was HOT!)

Ice down the shirts and frozen lemonade were our only relief.

After the games we took the subway back. The last night we got on the subway and of course it is sardines of bodies without strong air conditioning. We made it two stops before Guy decided he was going to lose it. We made a split decision at the next stop to jump off and it was a good one. We review the map again and realized that we could just get on a different subway train on the same line and still get to our hotel. The next train was actually almost empty and had great air conditioning. We had a long ride ahead of us and we were thankful for Guy's almost breakdown. Thanks Guy.

Take me out to the ball game at Yankees Stadium.

Mariano Rivera Yankees "closer" entering into the game with "Enter Sandman" playing.

Start spreading the news.......New York! New York!

Savanna and Summer Fun

They love spending time together at Nana and Pa's.

Later that week we went to dinner with the family and the kids loved playing in the fountain. Surprisingly no one fell in.

Uptown Bus Tour - Day 4

10 am and we are already wet. Humidity or sweat?

This is were John Lennon lived and died. Yoko Ono his wife still lives here.

This is currently residential but at one point it was a cancer hospital. It was built without corners because at the time it was believed that germs that caused cancer grew in corners.

St.Patricks Cathedral ?? HUGE and amazing.

Ulysses S. Grants Tomb - didn't even know this was in Manhattan
